Memories

Facts your Praxis agents capture during chats and carry across sessions, so they keep your context instead of asking twice.

A memory is a fact an agent captures during a chat and reuses in later ones, so you don't repeat yourself. Tell an agent once that your production cluster runs in us-east-1, and future chats start already knowing it.

How memories get captured

Agents capture memories on their own. When an agent picks up something worth keeping during a chat, it notes it without being asked. You can also tell an agent to remember something directly, such as "remember that we deploy on Fridays." Praxis saves what's worth keeping once the chat wraps up, and each memory records the chat it came from so you can trace where it started.

📘

The Memories page is where you review and organize what your agents have captured. You don't type memories into it by hand; agents create them as you chat.

How agents recall them

When you start a new chat, the agent loads the memories that apply before it responds, so it already knows them. That includes the agent's own memories, the memories shared across all of your agents, and any that are shared across your organization. When there are many to pull from, more important memories take priority.

What each memory carries

Every memory has three attributes that decide who recalls it and how much it matters.

Audience controls which agents can use the memory:

AudienceWho can recall it
AgentOnly the agent it belongs to
User (default)Any of your agents, so your context follows you
OrgEveryone in your organization

Kind groups a memory by what it is about: who you are and what you care about (User), how you want agents to work (Feedback), ongoing project work and decisions (Project), or a pointer to an external system or doc (Reference).

Importance runs from low to critical, with medium as the default. A critical memory is one an agent should never forget, such as a security constraint, and higher-importance memories take priority when memories are recalled.

Reviewing your memories

Find every stored memory under Context > Memories. The page is built for review, not editing.

A stat strip at the top counts your memories as Hot (recalled in the last 7 days) or Cold (never recalled, or not recalled in 30 days or more), next to the total and how many are critical. These cuts show what your agents actually lean on and what has gone stale.

Filter the list by audience, by the agent that captured each memory, or by kind and importance under More filters. Search by keyword across a memory's title, content, and tags. Group the list by audience (the default), by kind, or by agent, and sort by most recent, most recalled, or Stale to surface memories that have gone unused.

Open any memory to read its full content and tags, see how many times it's been recalled and when, and jump to the chat it came from.
